Wu Kang and the Cassia Tree Wu Kang and the Cassia Tree Part I There was once a smart young man. His name is Wu Kang. Wu Kang was a farmer, but he found that farming was so easy to him. So he started to learn different things. First, he wanted to become a furniture maker. After he knew that making good furniture would take three to five years, Wu Kang stopped to learn to do business. He went to work in a shop, but he very quickly knew that it would also take him many years to be a rich businessman. Without any patience, Wu Kang left again and he decided to become an immortal this time. Wu Kang went up to a mountain to find the immortals. Soon he found an immortal to teach him to make wonder drugs.

Wu Kang and the Cassia Tree Wu Kang and the Cassia Tree Part II After several days, Wu Kang felt bored of learning it, too. He asked the immortal to teach him something else. The immortal agreed and next began teaching him to play Chinese Chess. Once again, Wu Kang ran out of his patience. Next, the immortal gave Wu Kang many books to study. He studied these books for a few days but gave up studying them again. At last, the immortal wanted Wu Kang to take a trip to the moon with him. When he got to the moon, the immortal taught him to chop down a large Cassia tree before them. But the Cassia tree was a magic tree. Wu Kang would never chop down the tree. When he chopped it down, it grew up again the next day. This is how the immortal taught Wu Kang patience.

The Story of Mid-Autumn Festival The Story of Mid-Autumn Festival Chang-Er No one can make sure of the origin of the Harvest Moon Festival, which is also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival. The origin was romanticized by the legendary story of Chang Er, who was believed to have taken a pill, become a fairy and flown to the moon to escape from the pursuit of her husband. It was thought that we could see Chang Er on the moon when it is at its brightest in mid-autumn (i.e. the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar). The exact date in the Western calendar changes from year to year but it is approximately in September.
