Presentation transcript:

Paul the persecutor (Acts 9) Paul the penitent (Acts 9) Paul the persecuted preacher (Acts 9, 13-20) Paul the protector (Acts 21-26) Paul the persuader (Acts 27) Paul the prisoner preacher (Acts 28)

Be like me, except for my imprisonment What position / blessings in life did he have that the others did not? A statement of confidence A statement of fact An exemplary attitude Can we say the same?

Paul was right and he knew it Not boastful, or self-righteous (Phil. 3:9; Tit. 3:5) Not right by his own merit (Rom. 1:17; 5:1) Not ashamed (Mt. 10:32) He was convinced; tried to convince others … do we?

Paul was in the only desirable state to be in His statement was exclusive – As I Am He was free from of sin (1 Tim. 1:13-16; Acts 22:16) He was free from human tradition (Phil. 3:4-11) He was a Christian; in Christ; in the Lords body; in the church (Eph. 1:22-23; 4:4; 5:23) He desired others to be in the one and only state to be in (Jn. 14:6; Acts 4:12) … do we?

Paul practiced what he preached He became a Christian and lived like a Christian (v. 31) He was consistent (1 Cor. 4:17; 2 Tim. 4:6-8) He taught an exemplary life (Phil. 2:15) He opposed hypocrisy in others (Gal. 2:11-14) He said that what he had become he continued to live … do we?

Paul had a fervent love for the lost He said I would to God … all that hear me He truly loved the lost (Rom. 9:1-3; 10:1) He truly sacrificed for the lost (1 Cor. 9:19ff) He strongly persuaded (Lk. 14:23; Acts 2:40; 17:1-4) … do we?

Yes, but Paul was an Apostle and we are not Apostles We are commanded to be like Paul (1 Cor. 11:1; Phil. 3:17; 4:9) We can and must be like Paul in saying: Become such as I am After you become RIGHT, tell others to become RIGHT, show them what it means to be RIGHT
