Managing Other Adults

Prompts for TA Deployment Provide alternative starter activity for small group. Help teacher model/demonstrate skill to class. Relay/interpret instructions; help with reading. Provide notes/writing frames for pupils. Work with a guided group. Help to maintain discipline (individual/class level). Provide feedback to the teacher on pupil progress. Prepare materials for the lesson eg record sheets for pupils to use, modified activity sheets for SEN pupils. Observe/assess identified pupils and report back to teacher. Create displays/wordbanks/visual timetable. Support pupils with practical work.

Reflections Consider the full range of adults who may be working with you in school. How well are they currently deployed? How could you develop approaches to the deployment of other adults to have a greater impact on children’s learning?
