Dr Donald Nicholson, a stalwart member and generous benefactor of Lidgett Park Methodist Church, lived well into his nineties and was active to the last. He took wonderful photographs of the flora and fauna of Roundhay Park in all seasons during his daily walks and displayed them at the church. A selection of them was included in the flower show.

Delicious scones and biscuits, hot drinks and chat were an indispensable part of the show.
The flower show raised about £1500, to be donated to Simon on the Streets, which is a Leeds charity that provides help for rough sleepers. The church’s efforts for this cause will have raised in excess of £10000 over the year The new annual project from September 2013 will be raising money to develop a previous project to build and equip a school in Belize, one of the poorest countries in the world.
