Welcome to our Christingle service in St Mary’s, Broughty Ferry HAPPY CHRISTINGLE! Christingle is a time to share the light, joy, fun and laughter of Jesus. He wants church to be fun…and so should we! ‘WE GATHER IN GOD’S PRESENCE’

Jesus brings us out of darkness: to live in his amazing light. Jesus is the Light of the World Jesus is our Way

The Advent Candle is lit by a child Jesus is the light of the world; Jesus is our Way. With Jesus even dark places are light; Jesus is the Truth. In Jesus we shall live for ever: Jesus is our Life.

SHINE, JESUS, SHINE Lord, the light of your love is shining, In the midst of the darkness shining; Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us, Set us free by the truth you now bring us, Shine on me, shine on me.

Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory, Blaze, Spirit blaze, set our hearts on fire. Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy; Send forth your word, Lord, and let there be light.

Lord, I come to your awesome presence, From the shadows into your radiance; By the blood I may enter your brightness, Search me, try me, consume all my darkness, Shine on me, shine on me.

Lord Jesus, we are getting ready again to tell the story of your birth: help us to make our hearts ready to be a place where you can live today. Lord Jesus, fill our hearts with your love, and help us to share your love with everyone. Amen.

No one who tries to follow me should stumble in the darkness. Reading John 8:12 Jesus said: “I am the world’s Light. No one who tries to follow me should stumble in the darkness. I will provide all the light you need.” For the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God WE HEAR GOD’S WORD’

Prayers: Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer At this point you could use the prayers of intercession in the service of the word.

We pray for peace… “Jesus shine your light.”

We pray for children across the world “Jesus shine your light.”

Your Prayers Think about somebody you know that needs help from Jesus at the moment. Maybe you know someone who is poorly or upset. Ask Jesus to shine His light for them. You can take your Christingle home tonight. When you look at it remember that Jesus is always with you, shining His light into your life, helping to show the way.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the time of trial, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. We light the Christingles Please bring forward your offering for the Children’s Society; then, collect your Christingle before you return to your seat When all the Christingles have been lit

Let us declare our faith in God: We believe in God the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.

We believe in God the Son, who lives in our hearts through faith, and fills us with his love.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit, who strengthens us with power from on high. We believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
