Induction Where is stuff? First ever lesson with the kids- Help! What expectations should we give to the students? Lessons on the system Get them familiar with specifications: GCSE and BTEC

Make NQTs feel part of the team Be positive around them Encourage staff room time at lunch Encourage the pub on a Friday

Show NQTs how the technicians like to receive their requisitions Emphasise a positive relationship will be very beneficial! Encourage trying out experiments first

Regrettably, these are extremely helpful One a half term, from different members of staff Be specific on how to improve- CONSTRUCTIVE

The structure of the year Key exams Coursework dates Expectations of marking Staff responsibilities Writing schemes of work Data

Regular meetings, at least fortnightly Be positive!!! We are very sensitive beings Sometimes we just need to be told that we’re doing a good job Help them identify weaknesses in teaching in order to build on them Encourage cross-curricular observations of teachers Choose the right person Give some recommendations for filing of meeting minutes, student info etc. Get this set up at the start of the year

Always on your side Give expectations Be involved- show an interest NQTs will be keen- don’t overload them Some responsibilities are nice because they can make NQTs feel important
