MissionsQuest What Is It?  Officially, MissionsQuest SM is the “Individual Achievement Plan for Acteens.”  Practically, MissionsQuest SM is a resource for helping Acteens ® go deeper in their learning about missions and their role in God’s plan for the world.

MissionsQuest SM is an extension of what girls learn in their regular Acteens ® meetings—where the focus is to develop spiritually toward a missions lifestyle through:  Learning about missions  Praying for missions  Giving to missions  Doing missions

Is like doing extra credit work for school.

Participants in MissionsQuest SM experience benefits far more significant than a higher GPA—including learning concepts like:  I am a unique creation of God  God designed me with a very specific purpose in mind  God desires that I use the gifts and talents He created in me to help fulfill His mission in the world  I can make a difference in the world for Christ today

Categories for activities will be divided into Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength.

Each category will have 12 activities. Four of the activities will be core activities and girls will choose to complete two of the four. Eight of the activities in each category will be optional activities, and girls will choose two of these activities.

Participants will complete a total of 16 activities to accomplish each quest.

The activities in the Heart category will help girls explore what God has to say about the focus of each quest. For example, the heart activities in the Quest for Courage will focus on what the Bible has to tell us about being courageous. HEART

The activities in the Soul category will help girls explore how the focus for each quest affects them personally. SOUL For instance, the Soul activities in the Quest for Confidence will guide girls to understand how what God has to say about confidence affects them as Christians in today’s society.

MIND The activities in the Mind category will help girls build upon what has been learned in the Heart and Soul categories, and will further prepare girls to become equipped for action which will be expressed in each quest through the activities in the Strength category.

The activities in the Strength category are just that—actions that are a result of the learning girls have done throughout the quest thus far. Activities will focus on developing a stronger missions lifestyle through ministering to others. STRENGTH

Every quest will offer girls the option to write one optional activity of their choosing, which they may choose to complete instead of one of the choices given. Optional activities written by the girls will require an Acteens ® leader’s approval before beginning that activity.

Some groups will choose to do MissionsQuest SM as a group. Leaders will be given some guidance into how to make that an easier endeavor.

Leaders will be encouraged to feel free to adapt the activities as needed to better fit their girls, their community, and their church. Every activity will not fit every girl in every church in every community.

Some leaders may decide to write their own form of MissionsQuest, with activities that specifically fit their community and their girls. Guidance will be offered in how to do this.

Quest for Character PURPOSE: The quest for character will invite students to develop their personal integrity and learn how to integrate their values, morals, and standards into their lives as Christians seeking to impact the world. SCRIPTURE: “We know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Romans 5:3–5 (NIV)

Quest for Confidence PURPOSE: As girls journey on the quest for confidence they will learn the steps to take to have confidence in themselves as children of God, as well as practice the art of self-confidence as they minister to others. SCRIPTURE: “And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.” 1 John 2:28 (NIV)

Quest for Courage PURPOSE: Through the quest for courage, girls will explore four aspects of being courageous as they learn to carry out God’s command to “go and make disciples of all nations,” love as God loves, develop a stronger sense of self-discipline, and become a bolder witness and encourager to others. SCRIPTURE: “I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous: do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NRSV)

Quest for Creativity PURPOSE: On the quest for creativity, girls will gain a greater understanding of how God has uniquely created and gifted them for the purpose of using those gifts to fulfill God’s purposes in the world. Girls will also learn to recognize and affirm the giftedness of others. SCRIPTURE: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13–14 (TNIV)

Quest for Excellence PURPOSE: On the quest for excellence, girls will learn to fully love God with every aspect of their lives. Excellence becomes the common theme for every word, deed, and thought. SCRIPTURE: “Sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 (TNIV)

Quest for Vision PURPOSE: By embarking on the quest for vision, girls will explore the world with the belief that they are God’s messengers of grace and love. Throughout the journey they will learn to trust God to provide His vision for their lives as they dream big dreams and seek God’s purpose for their lives. SCRIPTURE: “Where there is no vision the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
