The 5W’s on Havdalah What, When, Who, Why & Where By Lily M

What? Havdalah is the end of Shabbat where you say prayers. There are 3 objects that you use to celebrate Havdalah 1.Smelly Spices (Besamim) 2.Wine 3.A Special Havdalah candle. The havdalah prayer is all about saying good bye to shabbat which is why the word Havdalah means seperation,

When? You say Havdalah on the end of shabbat- when there are 3 stars in the sky.

Why? We say havdalah to show Shabbat has ended and to ask for a good week like Shabbat.

Who? Jewish people do havdalah with their families and friends.

Where? People say it at their homes or at shul.
