Presentation transcript:

 The invasion of Afghan was a response to the attack against the U.S on Sept. 11, 2001  The Taliban ( “Rulers” of Afghanistan) provided support for the group, Al-Quida, who were responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks

 On Sept. 11, 2001 Al-Quida Hijacked four airplanes, two of which flew into both skyscrapers at the World Trade Cent in New York, while another plane destroyed part of the pentagon in Virginia and the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania.  The crash caused the buildings to catch fire and collapse.

 Many of the Islamic people in Afghanistan have been pointed towards as a threat and under suspicion due to the attacks  And without trust towards the Afghans there is tension and unknown intelligence of another attack.

 Recently on May 2 nd 2011 the head of the Taliban, Osama Bin Laden was captured and killed after years and years of hiding  The death of Osama was a victory for the U.S. but a tragedy for some Afghanis and Taliban

 “While a surge in U.S. troops in 2010 and improved capacity of the Afghan security forces has put increasing pressure on the Taliban, in March 2011, the U.S. military viewed the security gains achieved in the last year as "fragile and reversible””. (cfr)

 Afghanistan has made progress since the attack on 9/11  But it still face challenges like: preventing the return of Al-Quida, recovering from 3 decades of civil strife, along with rebuilding a destroyed physical, economic, and political infrastructure

 “The latest Travel Warning for Afghanistan warns U.S. citizens against travel to Afghanistan and states clearly that the security situation remains critical.” (travel.state.gov)  Riots have increased in Afghanistan in the response to political issues

 The U.S. has become stronger as once was before the attack  Since the attack, The U.S. has killed the man in charge of the attacks, along with the Taliban member apart of it.
