2 "If we keep on heading where we're going, we are heading for failure." Nicolas Sarkozy December 2009, Copenhagen

3 Overall goals of CO 2 -NeuTrAlp Develop a project of excellence and strategic relevance –contribute to immense challenge of shifting the transport sector towards the use of renewable energies (RE) Develop and apply innovative solutions –prepare and test in pilot projects different alternative propulsion technologies –in partnership with research and private business, public authorities and transport companies Set standards in transport and wise use of endogenous resources –analyse solutions to applicability, cost efficiency, local environmental footprint, ecological and economical effects of regional RE production for transport. –derive proposals for transnational standards to facilitate broad implementation of technologies and prevent predatory use of endogenous RE resources. Develop strong perspectives for regional economies –(weak) rural areas shall benefit from using and processing RE resources for transport –decentralised urban networks shall benefit from development, production and implementation of new technologies –users (public authorities, private business, citizens) shall benefit from extra regional revenue and long-term economics. Implement local, regional, national and EU policy objectives
