Secure the Area - Remove occupants from immediate area. Close the doors to contain the fire/smoke. Activate the fire alarm – using manual pull station. Phone public safety: –Uptown campus (ext 5200), TUDPS –Downtown campus (ext 55555), TUHSC Police Extinguish the fire – using a portable fire extinguisher, as appropriate.

Check fire alarm panel which will indicate floor/zone in alarm. Evacuate building using the nearest stairwell or ground floor exit. Account for all persons – make sure that everyone is out of the building.

Do not re-enter until “All Clear” is issued by TUDPS or TUHSC Police.

Required by LA State Fire Marshal –How often? 5/year (2/semester, winter and fall; 1/summer semester; 2 at night when residents are sleeping) –Coordinated and documented by OEHS
