doc.: IEEE /0012r0 Submission ETSI EN v1.8.1 ETSI requirements for “Data transmission equipment operating in the 2,4 GHz ISM band” Power limited to 100mW for RLAN devices Non-RLAN devices limited to 10mW, but requested change to allow 100mW operation Wi-Fi Alliance and IEEE commented on keeping 100mW for LBT, spectrum sharing devices ETSI “attempted” to fix this

doc.: IEEE /0012r0 Submission Then I Got This Note Adrian Stephens: I have performed my own analysis of the rules that are in EN I find that the CSMA/CA channel access mechanism doesn't meet the rules as described. There is an inherent structural difference that CCA may be sampled in a slotted fashion during backoff - i.e. there is no requirement to be sensitive to CCA outside certain times (as I read the standard). The rules in '328 talk about the medium being idle for a [by implication, continuous] period of time. A secondary issue is that the rules as described would prevent the use of the e QoS EDCA channel access mechanism, which relies on the ability to use smaller CWmin values for high priority traffic.

doc.: IEEE /0012r0 Submission The Changes First attempt –Specified mechanisms It takes IEEE-SA 1300 pages A few paragraphs in EN could not safely replicate it Latest effort –Refer to IEEE standard instead of trying to specify it Revision not yet published
