doc.: IEEE r1 Submission November 2002 Motohiro Gochi, Speednet Inc.Slide 4 e-Japan strategy Home users dissatisfied with the current dial up environment with its low-speed,high-cost and sharing of the access line with the traditional phone line. Immediate need for always on,low-cost and High speed,Broadband infrastructure for the general public. Japanese Government come up with “e-Japan Strategy”.Within 5years,becoming cutting edge of IT in the world.

doc.: IEEE r1 Submission November 2002 Motohiro Gochi, Speednet Inc.Slide 7 Issue for Apartments The apartment house produce “Broadband Refugees”. –Impossibility for ADSL and Fiber, Because of telephone exchange office to apartment is too long distance or Multipurpose line –It is extreamely difficult to draw optical fiber into only a specified household in aparment. –To need an agreement of a management association to introduce optical fiber and CATV into the whole apartments. (a lot of problem for facility management / taking a lot of time)

doc.: IEEE r1 Submission November 2002 Motohiro Gochi, Speednet Inc.Slide 8 Wireless Access solution is expected in Japan. Speedup of Wireless Access System is needed by Broad Band trend, apartment measures. By the high throughput –High throughput per user. –Increasing user number per AP. => Lower cost service => Increasing Market size.
