(This means that ad-hoc mode (IBSS) is prohibited) Following requirements are assumed; –base stations shall be licensed and –subscriber can be un-licensed. 14 doc.: IEEE 802.11-02/533r0 Submission September 2002 Peter Ecclesine, Cisco Systems et alSlide 14 Discussion Points To confirm OFDM PHY can satisfy the new Japanese regulation –It could be OK, because technical committee considered the proposal based on IEEE 802.11a spec. However, it is important for IEEE 802.11 to confirm the spec. To decide channel IDs for 4.9-5.0GHz band –Current 802.11a defines channel ID for band 5.0-6.0GHz. It is important to define standardized channel ID for 4.9-5.0GHz band for interoperations. To handle 4msec carrier sense rule –The Japanese regulation requires for all equipment to sense carrier every 4msec. The rule could make several impacts for IEEE 802.11 spec such as maximum PCF duration may be limited to 4msec fragmentation length may be limited to 4msec any other? –It is discussion point to be standardized or not. To handle IBSS prohibit rule –It is discussion point to define new standardized mechanism or not. –(I think no new mechanisms will be required. The country and frequency information available in the MAC should be sufficient to prevent people from starting IBSS.)
