Presentation transcript:

 Character can be defined as that blend of virtues and flaws that make up your moral fiber.  We judge a person's character by the flaws that we see. Flaws make a personality colorful. We all have them and we vicariously enjoy another person's struggle with them

 You, and everybody you know have some flaws.  They tend to stay with us for our entire lives.  Everybody has certain character traits that they are born with.

 Character flaws have traditionally been seen as the key to discovering your self potential. Each and every flaw that creates havoc in your life is the key to uncovering which virtue you must work on in order to discover your full potential.

 In your notes, define character traits in your own words.  Answer the following questions: › How does your definition differ from our discussion on character flaws? › Is there a difference between character traits and character flaws (creating a Venn diagram may help)? Justify your answer with specific examples.

 Ben Underwood Ben Underwood  Jason McElwain Jason McElwain

 Based on our discussion, what characterizes a “flaw”?  What were the “flaws” of the people in each video?  How did they exploit their flaws to help themselves or other people?  Compare and Contrast videos

 The painter who feels obligated to depict his subjects as uniformly beautiful or handsome and without flaws will fall short of making art. - Joyce Maynard Joyce Maynard “I honor my personality flaws, for without them I would have no personality at all” I honor my personality flaws, for without them I would have no personality at all Pick one of the following two quotes and respond to it in the Notes section of your LA Binder for homework:  ~ Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without one. ~ Chinese Proverb ~ Conceal a flaw, and the world will imagine the worst ~ Marcus Aurelius
