ADJECTIVES IN SPANISH By Josh Dawson 9IZ

INTRODUCTION Adjectives in Spanish can be used in various forms. But most commonly comparative and superlative. Los pantlones mas cara = the trousers are the most expensive Mi camiseta es mas fea que las botas = my T shirt is uglier than the boots These are both examples of either comparative or superlative form.

COMPARATIVE FORM Adjectives can be used in a comparative form . To form the the comparative you must place either mas (meaning more) or menos (meaning less) before the adjective and que (meaning than) after the adjective which completes the phrase. For example: my T shirt is cooler than my shirt would become – mi camiseta es mas guay que mi camisa, or my shirt is less cool than my T shirt would become – mi camisa es menos guay que mi camiseta Mas + adjective + que = equation for more … than Menos + adjective+ que = equation for less … than

SUPERLATIVE FORM Adjectives can also be used in the superlative form. To form the superlative you must place el/la (depending on the adjective) before the adjective and mas (meaning most) or menos ( meaning least) after the adjective which creates the phrase. For example the shirt is the most expensive would become – la camisa mas cara, or the hat is the least expensive would become – el sombrero menos caro El/la + adjective + mas = equation for the most El/la + adjective + menos = equation for the least
