2 What is Online Service Delivery? Vision The current vision of the Online Service Delivery program is to use modern web- enabled solutions to enhance University Services and better use University resources to deliver high quality teaching, learning and research outcomes

3 OSD Initiatives Objective To provide an update, and demonstrate the progress of developments such as: Revamped University Web Site Content Management System Student Portal

THE REVAMPED UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY WEB-SITE

5 New Website Research highlighted that the site: was difficult to use required prior understanding of University structure presented image of the University as “difficult” and “inaccessible” had no consistent look and feel provided conflicting information provided out-of-date information was an impediment to building life-long relationships Why Change?

6 New Website Present information from a “user’s perspective” & in logical sequence Consistent & enhanced University image Easy to update (through CMS) Simple & easy to use Different ways to find information Collaborative ownership of the web site Benefits

10 What is a Content Management System? “Raw” content is authored by content owners directly, via a web form One copy of content, published to multiple locations Presentation or “look & feel” separate from content Automated workflow governs the publishing process Content is user controlled and managed Content has review and expiry dates which trigger workflows

11 Content Management System Better quality information Reduced time to access information & resources Improved usability & availability of relevant information Reduced risk of providing inappropriate, irrelevant or illegal information (~500 sites) Reduced duplication of content & resources Improved governance & control of University’s web presence Benefits

12 The CMS Project Implemented the CMS for the main University website Content to be managed by Publications Office, Marketing & Student Recruitment, Development & External Affairs, Student Services, Student Centre, Intranet team Created generic content templates and workflows for use across the University Created a support model for the CMS and the new corporate image What we have done:
