2 What is it? Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) Research Quality Assessment Exercise Managed by the ARC on behalf of Dept. Industry, Innovation, Science & Research Largely ‘metrics’ based Will assess research quality in Australian universities at multiple levels; Sector, University, discipline cluster, and Field of Research.

8 1. Data - Staff Eligibility Academic Staff – all staff must be reported. Other employees including, senior management, general, ‘casual’ and FE/VE staff can be included Adjuncts (where there is an affiliated research publication) Census date of March 31, 2008 Requested from you Field of Research (FOR) codes

Data - Publications Includes Research books, research book chapters, journal papers, refereed conference papers and creative works Most already captured Requested from you Assign/confirm FOR codes to Books, Book chapters and Conference publications Identify missing material e.g. for ‘new’ staff Identify material appropriate for peer-review (HCA only) – Must be loaded into library repository All other publications desirable to be included in library repository
