Overview Uses for valuation data Benefits of mapping Revaluation Outcomes 2006 Revaluation issues including GTCs, objections and supplementary valuations

Valuation Data Close Up What do you get as part of the Valuation Process?  63 common data elements, updated every 2 years  Accurate and timely valuations, independently audited by VGV  Land Classification Codes on each property  Quality and Condition codes  A marketable and useful database when data is properly collected

Valuation Data Close Up What can you do with this data?  Strategic Planning  Property Type analysis  Valuation mapping  Rate modelling (testing scenarios)  Spatial Analysis of objections  Communication materials/strategies

Spatial Data VICMAP – A partnership between Local and State Government  Councils provide changes/updates to State Government (via M1 and M2 forms)  State Government manages the spatial data model and pays for maintenance/updates  Revised map bases are provided back to Councils at regular intervals VICMAP provides statewide coverage of  Property and Parcel boundaries  Roads and Address points  Planning Scheme

Spatial Data VICMAP – Backbone of council systems  Many council processes are spatially based  Valuation Best Practice encourages mapping of valuations to identify anomalies early in the process  Mapping lends itself to all Council departments – planning, animal registration, route planning for garbage collection  Saves time and money
