Meet your friends? Learn something new? 70 years ago today nearly 400,000 men from Britain, Canada, the USA and from around the world began the fight to defeat Nazi Germany

By 8:44 on the morning of 6 th June 1944 there has already been fierce fighting for over 2 hours. Thousands are dead or wounded – but the battle for Europe has only just started.

11,590 aircraft + crews 6,939 ships + crews Over 425,000 men from both sides, killed, wounded or missing.
