Universal Themes In the Scope & Sequence for Differentiation, each grade level has a specific Universal Theme Students should be taught the big ideas or generalizations related to each Universal Theme Teachers help students make connections between the Universal Theme and their grade level curriculum Students begin to deepen their thinking and make their own connections to the Universal Theme

Open-Ended Questioning Teachers should consider: Purpose of questioning Intellectual Demand Effective questions lead not only to answers, but to more questions

Technology Digital Natives: our students speak the digital language of computers, video games and the Internet Digital Natives have little patience for lectures, step-by-step logic, and “tell-test” instruction.
