Alcohol content

Why do we need to know how much alcohol is in a drink? Because alcohol is the most powerful neuro-chemical that most humans will ever ingest, so knowing the dose is quite helpful Because alcohol may be very nice but it is also a toxic, addictive, carcinogenic drug of abuse, so being able to calculate your weekly intake is quite helpful.

How do we know how much alcohol is in a drink? There are currently two systems: 1)% ABV = % alcohol by volume

How do we know how much alcohol is in a drink? There are currently two systems: 1)% ABV = % alcohol by volume 2)Units / standard drinks / standard measures…

or 20

How much easier would life be for 1)Consumers 2)Health professionals 3)Drinks industry 4)Packaging industry 5)Everyone If we just had one measure of alcohol, one standard drink, one unit of alcohol = the grog

What if …. % ABV = grogs / L of drink 4% ABVbeer = 4 grogs / litre 2 grogs / half litre 12% ABV wine= 12 grogs / litre = 12 x 0.75 grogs / bottle= 9 grogs 40% ABV vodka = 40 grogs / litre

What if grogs not only already existed but were in day to day use?

They are!!!

one grog = one centilitre of pure alcohol = 1 cl %ABV = cl alcohol / litre

or 20 Grogs(cl)
