KINDERGARTEN NEWSLETTER 2011 July- December Animals Phonemic Awareness Means of Transportation Community Helpers Spring Games

Animals Art Crafts provide our children with activities they enjoy. Visiting the farm was an awesome experience. Our kids were able to look at little animals and their needs to grow healthy. We demonstrate our respect to animals and plant life. Our children learn about animals and they enjoy it. They like to talk about pets, farm animals, zoo animals, sea animals, and insects. They love small animals.

Phonemic Awareness Pre Kinder children enjoyed making and eating hotdogs! “S” is for sandwich!!! Our children demonstrate the ability to listen, identify, and manipulate individual sounds in spoken words working with a variety of materials. Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds in spoken words. Before children learn to read, they need to be aware of how the sounds in words work. We teach our students to manipulate phonemes by using the alphabet

Means of Transportation Red on top Green below Red means stop Green means go Yellow wait, even if you’re late A helicopter! Modelling airplanes with clay! A Rocket! Look at my motorcycle! A train, a car and a rocket! Playing together in class! Using our imagination! In this unit children learned to identify all the means of transportation around us and the way we can go from one place to the other. Sharing literature, poetry and rhymes is good for kids because in this way they can increase their vocabulary and their understanding of how language works.

Community Helpers Our children learned about community helpers and their jobs in a way that was really fun. They learned songs and poems, played games and did art crafts. Kindergarten children made hats to sing the song: “I´m a Police Officer” “I’m a police officer with my star. I help people near and far. If you have a problem call on me. And I will be there One, two, three!” We were firefighters!!! We baked cookies too! Pre Kinder students were real chefs!!! Baking muffins! We take advantage of children’s natural instincts to play.

Spring Games Making the masks for the play! The Enormous Carrot He pulled and pulled, but he could not pull up the Enormous Carrot, so he went to the mother…..the mother pulled the farmer, the farmer pulled the carrot but they still could not pull it up, so they went to the brother….. Sequencing the scenes of the story in Kinder According to our institutional plan, we organized different activities in order to promote values in our children. Solidarity Love Faith Teamwork
