Transitional Living Program WHAT WE FOUND Total Youth Discharged = 27 (20 single and 7 parenting) 93% (25/27) exited to permanent housing 19 youth “completed the program” by Huck House definition with an average length of stay = 14 months (4/19 to complete the program were parenting youth) 8 youth exited due to non-compliance (2), criminal activity (2) or other housing opportunities (4) with an average length of stay 2 months

Transitional Living Program WHAT WE FOUND Total Youth Discharged = 27 (20 single and 7 parenting) Youth who completed the program (N=19): 95% (18/19) youth made progress on educational goals 95% ( 18/19) youth met at least 50% of the objectives on their Service Plan 89% (17/19) youth had a passing score on the independent living skill assessment 6 youth employed (4 also had food stamps); 3 receiving cash benefits + food stamps; 9 food stamps only

Transitional Living Program WHAT WE LEARNED The percentage of youth “completing the program” by our definition increased from 50% to 70% The Parenting Mentor is critical to the teen parents’ success. More structure has reduced the number of exits due to “non- compliance”
