…built, patented & proven Intrusions, leading to the passenger compartment can result in water leaks, wind and road noise issues. Detection of intrusions or build variations is an integral part of Quality Control (QC) for any auto manufacturer. Historically, the intrusive nature of QC tests (water booth etc.) can cause significant vehicle damage, some tests (wind tunnel) can be cost prohibitive for more than a sample of the vehicles. The QuadraSonic Array, with patented technology, tests vehicle sealed effectiveness via ultrasound. This non-destructive and cost-effective process allows QC tests to be performed on every vehicle and intrusions and/or build variations to be identified immediately.

Executive Summary QuadraScan Technologies has developed a patented* technology that targets a significant quality, production and manufacturing related problem, leak detection and location. The Problem, intrusions, leading to the passenger compartment can result in water leaks, wind and road noise issues. Detection of intrusions and/or build variation is an integral part of Quality Control (QC). Manufacturers have traditionally relied on test processes such as the water booth, which are potentially damaging, costly, and raise environmental and plant safety issues. Traditional subjective noise evaluation is not only time consuming, but relies on favorable ambient conditions to conduct the testing, and can only be performed on a select few vehicles. The Solution, the QuadraSonic ArrayTM identifies and locates intrusion points and/or build variation in a non-destructive fashion. Our technology utilizes ultrasound to test the “sealed effectiveness” of closed compartments. This technology provides an accurate, repeatable, and unbiased data instrument empowering the manufacturer to adopt a quantitative scale of measurement The QuadraSonic Array is Built, Patented & Proven *patent #6983642 QuadraScan Technologies is dedicated to the development of non-destructive and, cost-effective, water and wind noise leak detection. Our mission is to provide a failsafe diagnostic system that impact both cost and quality. The Array is a means of leak detection and location from a full vehicle perspective. At first glance it’s a go/no go gauge, but upon closer analysis of the data it is possible to extract much more information than merely pass/fail. One could actually analyze the degree to which it passes or fails. This is an important distinction because now the data the instrument is accumulating is more than just qualitative data or attribute data (good/ bad, pass/fail). Now the data is quantitative or variable data. Typically, water leaks are defined by qualitative data, as good or bad, leak or no leak. Sometimes when a more thorough definition is required the qualitative terms of flood, stream, or drip are used. Now, with the aid of an accurate, repeatable, and unbiased measuring instrument, we can describe the intrusion point on an objective scale. We can even describe the degree to which it leaks or doesn’t leak.

What The Array Does… Tests for Intrusions, leading to the passenger compartment The QuadraSonic Array utilizes ultrasound energy to test the “sealed effectiveness” of all types of closed compartments. Tests build variation During the design phase of new makes and models and variations during production providing quantitative data. Compares vendor/ supplier products Focus on “Sealed Effectiveness” Creates an archived “UltraSound Fingerprint” Can be used in analysis of quality standards and referenced in the case of future warranty problems Real-time remote “Quality Test Auditing ” All information archived Intrusions, leading to the passenger compartment can result in water leaks, wind and road noise issues. Detection of intrusions and/or build variations is an integral part of Quality Control (QC) for any auto manufacturer. O.E.M. Product Comparison (ACTUAL) New seal shows a 22 .5% improvement over the current seal at G.M.’s Moraine Assembly Plant Data Tracking and Sorting is just one of the many features that the QuadraSonic Array will assist your facility in making the problem solving process easier for your company and better for the customer. The relative sound pressure is measured to determine the sealed level of a vehicle. This nondestructive test measures readings from sixteen zones. This is called the vehicle's ultrasound signature. Each vehicle has its own signature (fingerprint). The lower the signature level the more sealed the vehicle is. Each zone can have a different pre-set alarm level. By monitoring the ultrasound signatures of each vehicle, repair decisions can be easily made. Ultrasound is acoustic (sound) energy in the form of waves having a frequency above the human hearing range. The highest frequency that the human ear can detect is approximately 20 thousand cycles per second (20,000 Hz). This is where the sonic range ends, and where the ultrasonic range begins. Ultrasound is used in electronic, navigational, industrial, and security applications. It is also used in medicine to view internal organs of the body.
