DPIAP | Nothing About Us Without Us Situation analysis WHO: 15% of the world's population lives with some forms of disability and approximately 1 billion persons; The Global Burden of Disease estimates a figure of around 975 million (19.4%), and 190 million (3.8%) are severe disability; World Health Survey estimates that 110 million people (2.2%) have very significant difficulties in functioning; UN estimates 650 million individuals with disabilities live in Asia and the Pacific and 90 million individuals with disabilities in SE. Cause of Disabilities Inadequate maternal and childhood nutrition, infection and disease, The lack of clean water, Road accidents, Accidents in workplace, Conflict, terrorism and antipersonnel landmines, orange agent toxicant, Natural disasters have also contributed to the increase, Ageing constitutes a large share recently.

Issues Physical and sexual abuse Gender Inequality Multiple discrimination Largely excluded from educational opportunities Double unemployment rate Access to Universal Health Care Service Accessibility is mostly available in the city Legal Capacity Support decision making system

Poverty and marginalization characterize the situation of majority of the persons with disabilities in the region
