Something you should remember When changing from number name to numeral, there is one mistake you would do: The number: ninety nine thousand, five hundred and one. The numbers mentioned are: 9951 But… that’s not the actual numeral because the number said is ninety nine thousand (99,000) not nine thousand (9,000) which is the number when transformed. That’s why, when ever we see an ‘and’, it means there is a value of ‘0’ there. Also when

we see a value (five hundred and one), we look at the first number and translate it – five hundred = 500. So now we know its ‘500’ then we see a ‘1’ We don’t see the ‘middle value’, so we just put a ‘0’… If you want to know why we don’t just put the number ‘1’ in the tens place and a ‘0’ in the units, the reason is because then the number ‘five hundred and ten’ wouldn’t exist.
