Presentation transcript:

Substitution – Without Indices – Chief Cards B In this competitive activity groups (2+) input values into expressions to see who has the highest score. The ‘Chief’ calls numbers (−5 to 0) for the value of a and b. The chief should write the variable values on a mini-whiteboard. ‘Quick Cut’ – Sets of cards can be easily guillotined to save time.

Printing To print handouts from slides - Select the slide from the left. Then click: File > Print > ‘Print Current Slide’ To print multiple slides - Click on a section title to highlight all those slides, or press ‘Ctrl’ at the same time as selecting slides to highlight more than one. Then click: File > Print > ‘Print Selection’ To print double-sided handouts - Highlight both slides before using ‘Print Selection’. Choose ‘Print on Both Sides’ and ‘Flip on Short Edge’.

Share the cards between you. Youngest player is the chief first and decides the value for a and b. (−1 to −5) Players choose one of their cards to play. Highest score wins and gets 1 point! (Draw = 1 point each) Next chief is the player to the left. WATCH OUT! At any time, once per game, a player can decide to make a or b zero! 𝒂=−2 𝒃=−4

a = −3 b = −2 𝒂=−3 𝒃=−3 Who has the highest score?
