LEARNING OBJECTIVE:- Enhance their knowledge of mask making. Learn about social characters. Learn about different characters. Learn about uses of different mask on different occasion. Develop their artistic skill. Learn about uses of mask for decoration purpose

WHAT IS MASK? A mask is an object normally worn on the face, typically for protection, disguise, performance, or entertainment. Masks have been used since antiquity for both ceremonial and practical purposes. They are usually worn on the face, although they may also be positioned for effect elsewhere on the wearer's body.

Varieties of Masks characteristic portrait – represents a certain person status spirit animal – clan descended from some animal Masks could be: single – from a single piece of wood mechanical – with moveable parts, like eyes open and shut transformational – when closed one mask it could reveal another mask.

Meaning of mask's colors is :- Red – represents happiness and faith Yellow and orange – represents intellect Green– represents healing,harmony,and nature Purple – represents mystery and magic Black – represents victory and success – represents light and purity Blue – represents intuition and wisdom White

Paper Mask Materials:-Paper,colours,scessior,fevicol,decorative materials. Process:- Take a hard paper and draw sketch ,which you want to make your Mask. Fill colour on it. Use decorative materials if necessary.

Paper Mache method:- Materials:-Balloon or Round shape Process:- pot,fevicol,newspaper,oil,colours,decorative materials. Process:- 1)Take a round shape pot,put oil on it. 2)Make mixture of fevicol and water. 3)Dip piece of newspaper in fevicol mixture andpaste on pot. Make this process on top of the pot.It shoud be 3 to 4 layer. 4)After some time remove the paper shape,and cut it according to your choice shape. 5)Make sketch on it according to your choice design. 6)Fill colour on it and decorate it.

Process:- Select a model, whose mask you want to make. Gypsum method:- Materials:-Gypsum bandage,glycerine,scissor,colours,Decorative materials. Process:- Select a model, whose mask you want to make. Put Glycerin on the face and cover the hair area. Cut gypsum bandage in pieces and dip it in water and put on the model. Cover front face of the model. Repeat 3 to 4 layer.(Do not cover hole of the nose) After dry of gypsum bandage,remove it from model. It will take 15 to 30 minuts. If you want, color it and use artificial hair.
