Presentation transcript:

They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know, for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him. Mark 9:30-32

“Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening” 1 Samuel 3:9

And they came to Capernaum And they came to Capernaum. And when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?” 34 But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest.  Mark 9:33-34

With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything. Mark 4:33-34

And he sat down and called the twelve  And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all. Mark 4:35

And he sat down and called the twelve  And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all. Mark 4:35

Son of Man did not come to be served, but to Mat 20:28

He listened to people, - Samaritan women/Bartimaeus He met them at their convenient time - Nicodemus He encouraged them with his words – the commander who sought healing for his servant/The woman with the issue of blood. He always built relationships – Zacchaeus. Matthew the Tax collector/Simon the Zealot – the two opposites He spoke words of healing into peoples life – The Paralytic at Bethesda/Daughter of Jairus And finally, he was willing to help – whatever the situation was. – leaper

And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them,   “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.” Mark 9:36-37

Philippians 2:1-9  So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.  Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,  so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
