Agenda 3 Presentations of systems with some common attributes All systems use CIM modeling concepts to define data exchange between internal systems applications for enterprise application integration (EAI). All systems distribute the modeling information across an enterprise service bus (ESB) so that external applications can utilize the models. All systems use standardized interface services of the Generic Interface Definition (GID) of IEC 61970 to distribute models and data.

CIM and GID Provide a common agreement on What data is exchanged The Common Information Model (CIM) Provide a common agreement on How to exchange the data The Generic Interface Definition (GID)

GID provides standardized interface services GID is a platform independent version of interface standards supporting model driven services. GID interfaces reference data in the context of a common data exchange model, the CIM. GID services are “generic” in that they are common services that most systems need. Not “specific” services unique to individual systems.

GID Service Definitions Generic Data Access (GDA): For model management and distribution of updates. High-Speed Data Access (HSDA): For access to real-time measurement data. Time Series Data Access (TSDA): For access to historical measurement data. Generic Events and Subscriptions (GES): For pub/sub of generic XML messages. For more information on GID: Access the GID Tutorial Presentation on the CIM Users Group Web Site
