But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;

Peter warns of the certainty of God’s judgment upon the guilty.

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; 2 Peter 2:4

and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah,…when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 2 Peter 2:5

and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes,… 2 Peter 2:6

Peter also encourages the faithful that God is able to deliver them from the guilty and from temptation.

then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. 2 Peter 2:9

The only way out of a sinful world is to trust in God. He will correctly judge all that is contrary to His will. He is also able to deliver you from the ungodly & their sinfulness.

If you are living for Him, He will deliver you. We who have put our trust in such a God have gathered to worship Him this morning. If you are living for Him, He will deliver you.

If you are not living for Him, He will judge you. The choice is yours.
