Introduction

Mark 12:28-31 28 One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the foremost of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘Hear, O Israel! Hear O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; 30  And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, ‘ You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

1 Corinthians 12:31 31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
