Food around the world

Let’s take a look at some popular food from around the world.

Nicaragua Nicaragua is in Central America. The population is 6.22 million people. Currency is the Nicaraguan Córdoba. Nicaragua is in Central America. The capital city is Managua.

Nicaragua Nicaragua is the biggest country in Central America. It has two beautiful freshwater lakes as well as a chain of volcanoes.

CAFOD’s work in Cambodia focus on: - helping people who have health problems access medicine and earn a better income - supporting communities, especially indigenous people, grow new crops and protect the forests. We work with partners to help communities grow their own food, and have access to safe water in the future.

Peru Peru is in South America. The capital city is Lima. The population in Peru is 32.4 million people. Around a third of the population live in the capital Lima. Currency is the Peruvian Nuevo Sol. Which translate to English as Peruvian new sun. Peru is in South America. The capital city is Lima.

Peru has beautiful landscapes from mountains and beaches to deserts. Over one fifth of the population in Peru live in poverty Peru has beautiful landscapes from mountains and beaches to deserts.

Peru Did you know…? Do you think this is FAIR? In Peru, mining is big business but local people find that mines can pollute their water. In Peru, many children leave school to work in order to support their family. A quarter to a third of Peruvian children aged 6 to 14 work, often putting in long hours at hazardous mining. Peru is rich in copper, silver, lead, zinc, oil and gold. In the past, many communities moved from the mountains and other rural parts of Peru to cities such as Lima, where they settled together in areas known as “invasions” (informal settlements). Many Peruvians have moved from the countryside to urban informal settlements. Do you think this is FAIR?

Peru CAFOD has been working in Peru since 1968. We work with partners to help communities deal with water pollution, and we support training projects to help young people and women living in shanty towns to find work. One of the projects CAFOD supports in Peru is a baking group. Women can learn how to bake cakes and can sell them to make money. They also learn how to run a co-operative business. Another project is the textile group, where women learn to knit different items that they can sell to make money.

Bolivia Bolivia is in South America. The capital city is Sucre. Bolivia has two capital cities Sucre (the official capital) and La Paz (the administrative capital). The population in Bolivia is 11 million people. Currency is Bolivian Boliviano. Bolivia is in South America. The capital city is Sucre.

Bolivia Bolivia has glaciers and rain forest and two thirds of the population are indigenous people.
