Presentation transcript:

What conditions are needed for the system to work? A range of suitable, viable product lines exist and is increasing all the time…. Universal standards we all adhere to (i.e. EN13432) Universal product messaging for the end user Collected Sorted Recycled Universal markings for reprocessors Universal food waste collections in the UK

In parallel, BBIA should agree its own definitions, usage of terms, standards and marking (Organic Model)- get our own house in order 1 2 3 4 Agree the universal definition and usage of terms such as biodegradable and compostable Agree a universal set of standards and criteria that your materials must conform to, including independent governance and certification mechanism and sustainability factors. Agree product labelling and marking Obtain buy-in and sign-off by MRFs/PRFs, Composters, DEFRA

Compostable = Organically Recyclable… Right now, Brands and retailers want everything recyclable Even if there is no practical recycling infrastructure to deal with many product lines Keep it Simple – Let certified compostables follow & facilitate the food waste recycling system

BIO-MATERIAL Recycle with Food waste & Why not make it….OPRL Compatible…? BIO-MATERIAL Recycle with Food waste FILM
