Le passé composé des verbes réfléchis

Remember, you form the passé composé with a helping verb and a past participle. You have used être and avoir as your helping verbs. How do you form the past participle?

The reflexive verbs will use être as their helping verb. Since they use être, the past participle will agree with the subject – as long as the reflexive pronoun is the direct object.

When you say: I washed: Je me suis lavée. The me is the direct object. When you say I washed my hair: Je me suis lavé les cheveux. Your hair is the direct object and so the me is the indirect so there is not agreement.

They shaved. (m) Ils se sont rasés. We got ready. Nous nous sommes préparés. She fell asleep Elle sest endormie.

Now, lets do some with the indirect object so you wont make any agreement.

You all brushed your teeth. Vous vous êtes brossé les dents. I dried my hair. Je me suis séché les cheveux. My mom shaved her legs. Ma mère sest rasé les jambes.
