Meeting Overview Up to 40 attendees 15 input documents GTSC-8 (CCSA) meeting report presented Three High Interest Subjects with discussion and consideration of their respective resolutions Proposed revisions to two Resolutions NGN (ETSI) (Res. 10) Cybersecurity (ATIS) (Res. 11) Proposed reaffirmation of remaining Resolution Home Networking (ITU) (Res. 12)

NGN Summary Contributions from ETSI (GTSC9-05) and ATIS (GTSC9-09): Highlights Standards setting NGN foundations already exist. Work is still ongoing on few focused topics to enhance these standards so as to enable operational deployments (emergency communications, network interconnection, converged policy management, number portability…) Convergence and NG-service delivery to the end user will require the interaction of non-traditional telco aspects such as web services, data models, and applications. NGN standardization is now waiting for feedback from the Industry. Standardization needs to address network evolution beyond the NGN phase and should now address Future Networks and intermediary migration steps. Next Steps NGN consolidation: Make standards ensuring end-to-end delivery of services and global interoperability and responding to regulatory requirements. Future Networks: Intensify relationships between standard bodies and collaborative research projects. Start addressing migration steps from NGN to Future Networks. Recommendation HIS name should be revised: Next Generation Networks (NGN) including enhancements towards Future Networks Resolution GSC-15/10 should be updated to reflect a new strategic direction towards future networks. Proposed revision in GTSC9-13r2 / GSC16-CL-15 3

Cybersecurity - Summary Presentations Contributions from TIA (-03), ETSI (-06), IEEE (-08), ATIS (-09) Highlights/Summary TIA is focusing on network security issues related to Critical Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security. TIA TR-50 (Smart Device Communications) is working to ensure that architectures, protocols, and specifications meet requirements for secure solutions – including studies of Data-in-Transit Use Cases, M2M Threat Analysis ETSI provides support to ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency) and develops relevant security standards for NGN, Mobile/Wireless, Electronic Signatures, Smart Cards, RFID/IOT/M2M, and Intelligent Transport, among others IEEE has developed security standards in the areas of Encryption, Fixed/Removable Storage and information security related to printers/copiers. Recent focus on Malware, Phishing, and Smart Grid security guidelines ATIS is specifying interface security considerations (UNI, NNI, ANI, SNI) and is also developing a standard providing a framework for the design, implementation, and operations of a security architecture by NGN providers and guidelines for a structured approach for NGN security planning and operations Resolution No proposal for detailed revisions to Resolution GSC-15/11 on Cybersecurity (minor editorial modifications required for consistency). Proposed revision in GTSC9-12 / GSC16-CL-16

Home Networking (HN) Summary Contributions from TTC 02r1, ITU-T 04, and ETSI 07: Highlights HN Standards have progressed since last GSC meeting: G.hn, G.hnem The Telecom/Power/CE convergence for the Smart Grid will drive a new echo-system of products and this must happen under the auspices of International SDOs Energy Efficiency, QoS, and DECT standards progress Next Steps TTC will conduct research on network middleware for the communication between access gateway and home terminals ITU-T will have a major role in facilitating the convergence of the communications, power, and CE worlds ETSI believes that It is crucial to improve the co-ordination of Customer Premises Network technical discussions amongst the various groups. Recommendation Resolution GSC15/12 should be reaffirmed Proposed reaffirmation in GSC16-CL-17 Move this HIS to the Plenary level given the Radiocommunication aspects of HN 5
