Key messages – Budget 2019 Budget 2019 is a significant turning point for cities and communities. We welcome this elevation of our municipal-federal partnership as the way to build better lives for Canadians. This budget delivers major results for Canadians directly through their local governments. This budget puts tools directly in local hands. Growing our core Gas Tax Fund transfer means more projects move forward now. From roads and bridges to public transit and rec centres—this is about building better lives. It acts directly on local expertise. We’ve been crystal-clear that universal high-speed Internet access is key to building better lives in our rural, northern and remote communities. It invests in delivering directly for Canadians through FCM—to make people’s lives more secure and affordable. (This means everything from savings on home energy costs … to new energy-efficient arenas.) This budget charts a path toward a fully modernized relationship that puts the right tools in local hands. That’s something all parties can agree we need to get more done for Canadians.   Yukon amount for 2018-2019 pre-boost: $ 16,511,706.22 Northern amount pre-boost: $ 49,098,206.22 Doubled: $ 98,196,412.44
