Kentucky’s Regions Bluegrass

Overview of Bluegrass Northern Central part of Kentucky Majority of Population and Largest Cities The capital of Kentucky is Frankfort. Frankfort is located in the Bluegrass region. Kentucky was originally spelled Kentucke Bluegrass-named for the use of bluegrass in fields for horses.

Geography The river that runs through Kentucky is the Kentucky River. The Bluegrass region covers an area of 8,000 square miles. The Bluegrass is the 3rd largest region. The Ohio River borders the North Low Rolling Hills and Valleys

Economy Contains the Three Largest Cities: Lexington, Louisville, and Northern Kentucky Home to about half of the state’s population Major crops: corn, soybeans, tobacco, and hay Thoroughbred Industry Transporting Goods Natural Resources: Soil ,Minerals ,Service industries, Manufacturing ,Water ,Trees/Lumber ,Coal ,Water transportation
