Navigating the Future of Your Career
Presentation transcript:

Passion First is about connecting who we are to the things we do in life, now as well as in the future. We are all unique, and we all can do something that no one else can.

On your phone or with a friend spend two minutes searching the Internet for quotes on pursing your passions, and share any good quotes you find.

Raise your hand if you have ever taken any kind of assessment that tells you what your strengths and interests are. If so, which assessments have you taken? And what have the results been?

What do you think are the most important things to understand about yourself?? Vote with your whiteboard. Skills or Strengths Passions or Interests Personal Values Desires or Motivations Other

Understanding who we are is much more than knowing what we are good or not so good at. It is recognizing what we love, enjoy, and especially what we value as well. Chat with your neighbor about what other things you believe we should understand about ourselves… Be ready to share ideas…

How can school best help us to identify, develop, and utilize our abilities and interests? Use your whiteboards to vote. Through classes that help us develop our strengths By helping us form relationships with others who have similar goals and interests Through providing us with the academic foundation to attend our desired college or pursue a chosen career By simply helping us to be happy during our time in school

What are some other ways that school can help us in discovering our passion?

In your journal, write down aspects of yourself (strengths, interests, values and desires) that you would like to pursue and develop while in school.

Do you think most people are happy with their careers?   On the Whiteboard, please write some examples of people you know who love what they do for a living, and what their jobs are.

Discovering your Passion 30 Questions about you… Work on these questions and next week we will review them and have a journal entry related to them.

Creating a VISION BOARD A vision board is a collage of images, pictures, and affirmations of your dreams, goals, and things that make you happy. It can also be called a dream board, treasure map, or vision map. Creating a vision board can be a useful tool to help you conceptualize your goals and can serve as a source of motivation as you work towards achieving your dreams.

Steps to creating your vision board: Reflect upon your GOALS and what you have discovered about your PASSIONS in life. Decide upon the format of your vision board. (you can make a large poster, you can also make an electronic version) Collect images and inspirational words for your vision board.  (magazine clippings, online images, words, quotes, postcards, photos) Include a photo of yourself on your board. Include at least 20 images/words/etc…

Next week will be “Show and Tell.” Each of you will show and tell your VISION BOARD as a demonstration of the Passion First Mindset.. Play Focus on Strengths Video After This Slide

In groups of 3-4 people… Share what you selected to represent the Everything is Possible Mindset. After Everyone shares, complete the SHOW AND TELL paper and be ready to SHARE with the class.
