Definition Similar to a facility at an ICU unit, the earths life support system is defined as an all-inclusive environmental and related social system to maintain and improve societal harmony, safety, nutrition, medical care, economic standards and new technology development, an integrated system that supports all sorts of life. It is based on the above concept and definition that the EOLSS has been developed.

Encyclopedia of Life Support System (EOLSS) This encyclopedia is an integrated compendium of twenty encyclopedias was developed under the auspices of the UNESCO is a virtual library presently includes 534 e-books formed from the contribution of 8000 authors from more than 100 countries is peer reviewed is edited by 395 subject experts is monthly updated
