Please Do Now Please Get: 1 piece of paper and a pair of scissors from the counter. Remember scissor walking safety tips: Pointed ends face down and arm down at side.

We are going to make a fortune teller!

Now, make a square! Fold over the bottom corner and cut across top.

Next, make a smaller triangle. Fold the two opposite ends of the triangle together, forming a smaller triangle. or

Open the paper up (unfolding all the folds). Flatten it out! Open the paper up (unfolding all the folds).

Now, fold the points in! Fold a corner into the central point. Repeat with the opposite corner. Repeat with the other 2 corners. You'll end up with a square.

Make an even smaller square! Flip the paper over. Fold a corner over to the center. Repeat with the opposite corner. Fold over the 2 remaining corners. You'll end up with a smaller square.

Fold the square in half. Unfold and fold in half the other way.

Now add the words! Pick the 4 toughest words to spell and write them on the four big corners.

Add words and synonyms! Flip it over. Write 8 words from this list on each small triangle. Write the synonym for each under the flap.

You can now study vocabulary words! Have a person choose one of the four words. Spell that word out, while moving the fortune teller in and out. Then, have the person choose one of the words that is showing. Move the fortune teller in and out while spelling the word. When you finish, have the person choose one of the four visible words. Ask the person for the synonym. Open up the flap, and read the synonym to check.

Please Do Now Put the scissors back. Throw out the green paper. Write your name on the fortune teller. Find a safe place for it. It is a grade. Take out your novel.
