The cheetah and the meerkat By Phoebe

The Cheetah and the Meerkat The cheetah and the meerkat had just lined up at the start of the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London. The cheetah started to laugh at the meerkat and said ‘good luck’, the meerkat replied ’good luck to you as well’. The cheetah said ‘I don’t need luck to win’. The race was about to begin. THREE, TWO, ONE, GOOOO!!!!!!!!

After ten minutes of hard running, the cheetah was a long way in front of everyone else, so he decided to stop for a cup of tea. The meerkat took no notice of this and just carried on with the race. The cheetah then started to send some e-mails to some friends. Again the meerkat took no notice and thought I'm never go to win but I will carry on anyway. Then some animals watching the race shouted ‘come on you can do it - don’t give up’.

In the mean time the cheetah went to do his weekly shopping in Tescos. A while later, the meerkat was nearly at the finish line and very tired. Just as this was going on, the cheetah was feeling sleepy so he had a little lie down. Then he remembered that he was in the 2012 Olympic Marathon. He jumped up and ran really fast to the finish line. He was too late, as the meerkat had just crossed the finish line.

The cheetah was very cross he didn’t win the race The cheetah was very cross he didn’t win the race. The meerkat was awarded the gold medal and the cheetah got the bronze medal. The meerkat turned and said to the cheetah ‘slow and steady wins the race’.
