3 of the four Hypotheses were supported Women with high mate value with a mate of high value More resource-provisioning Less cost-inflicting Low Value Men more likely to do cost-inflicting behavior Mens Mate Value determined in which behaviors he would partake Miner, J., Starratt, V., Shackelfor, T. (2009). Its not all about her: mens mate value and mate retention. Elsevier, 47, Retrieved from EBSCO Host database

The researchers only surveyed females who were in their early 20s, so the results may not be applicable to a wider population Their male partners input would have been interesting to gather in order to have comparable values as well All data was taken from the women's perception, love tends to blind us to our partners flaws and ego tends to let us inflate our own. It would be really interesting to have a panel of mate value experts analyze both partners to determine a more accurate mate value for each partner

The retention behaviors that males engaged in depended more so on the males mate value than it did on the womens mate value Men of a lower mate value with a partner of high mate value were the most likely to engage in cost-inflicting mate behaviors It may be that men who perform benefit-provisioning behaviors are,as a consequence, rated as more valuable by their partners. Assessments of mate value and mate retention behaviors at different time points across the duration of a relationship, rather than at a single point as in the current research, might provide additional insight into the nature of the relationship between mens benefit- provisioning mate retention behaviors and mens mate value.
