The Arabian Peninsula and Central Asia Students will compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the two regions of the Middle East by analyzing maps and source documents onto a venn diagram The Arabian Peninsula and Central Asia

Warm Up: Hypothesize: How do you think people in the middle east survived despite the scarcity of water?

Homework: Read pages 118-121 and define the 7 key terms and places

Turn and Talk Describe what you think life is like for people who live in the desert.

Where is this peninsula? Located in the center of the Middle East the Arabian Peninsula form a semi circle around the Persian Gulf.

The truth about deserts Not all deserts are made of sand. Some deserts are covered with rocks and gravel.

Central Asia The eastern most part of the Middle East. Is Mostly land locked. Turn and talk: Looking at the map what do you think the term “Land Locked” means?

Work Time: Using the maps and source documents complete the venn diagram comparing and contrasting the two different regions of the Middle East.
