Stock Portfolio Video Project

The Scenario - Each group has been hired by a private firm that represents a group of wealthy clients to invest in the stock market as stock brokerage company (a licensed company that invest the stock market). - Each group will create a portfolio to invest $400,000 in the stock market. The client request that your group research strong performing stocks to insure their investments will be a profitable investment.

Scenario (Continued) The client requires a diversified portfolio (various sectors in the stock market) to insure their investment is does not rely in one area of the economy (i.e., technology, banks, transportation). The clients live in various parts of the world so they are requesting for a video presentation from your group to “report-out” on the recommended companies your stock brokerage will select for their investment.

Project Requirements A Project Requirements A. Group Work - Each group will have four (4) students. Each student will be responsible for managing ¼ or 25% of the portfolio ($400,000). This means each student is responsible for researching good stocks to invest $100,000. B. Research Stocks – Each student is responsible for selecting twelve (12) stocks from the U.S. stock market. See stock selection requirements. C. Pie Chart– Each student will create a pie chart (see example) to show which stocks will be used for the portfolio. D. Stock Purchase Sheet - Each student must fill-out “Stock Purchase” worksheet. E. Stock Information Sheet - Each student will write twelve (12) individual reports on the “Stock Information” worksheet. F. Each student will select their top three stocks out of the twelve stocks to report-out on the video.

Diversified Portfolio Pie Chart - Each student will submit a pie chart of all their stocks.

Stock Selection Requirements 1 Stock Selection Requirements 1. Stocks (12 different stocks) must be diversified. It means different areas in business (example: auto, banks, health care, telecommunication). 2. It must have dividends. It means the company pays share holders for owning their stock. 3. It must be a stock that is publicly traded in the United States (i.e., NYSE, NASDQ).

Video Presentation 1. Each group will create a video group presentation. 2. Each student in the group will report-out on their top 3 stocks from their twelve stocks. 3. The video must be four (4) to six (6) minutes. It must have the following: Video - clear and focus Setting – Good bright lighting/setting Audio - loud and clear. 4. Be professional and dress professional for the project presentation. If you want to receive a good professional grade (i.e. A+), then you must show it during your presentation.

Create a “YouTube” video. Each group will create a “YouTube” video using your student account with Google. Follow the instructions from the “Create a YouTube video”. The video can be deleted after the instructor grades the project. Do not delete the project until the grade is entered in Powerschool or no credit!

Report-Out on each company by using the “Stock Information” worksheet Report-Out on each company by using the “Stock Information” worksheet. Here are the following questions: 1. What is the name of the company? 2. How much dividend (per share/per year) does the company pay? 3. What is the P/E (Price/Earnings)? 4. What is the 52 week high/low price? 5. What are the Wall Street analysts saying about the future earnings for the stock? *There is a suggested script that can be used for the “stock report-out” if students need guidance on their video report.

Submit Presentation (email the YouTube link) the video presentation with your group or individual presentation. 2. Pie chart of all 12 stocks that was selected (hard copy). 3. Stock Information Sheet of all 12 of their stocks (hard copy). 4. Stock Purchase Sheet of all 12 of their stocks (hard copy). All the requirements must be on time on the due date for credit. Partial work will not be accepted. All or nothing for this project! *Email the YouTube video link - Make sure to label your email on the email subject line. The video clip must have your full name and period number to insure you get credit for your work. If there are more than one person, put all the full names on the video clip to insure everyone gets credit.

Suggested Script Good morning/evening, my name is _(First and Last Name)____ with _________News. Today I am reporting on my top four stock picks. They are in four different sectors of the stock market to insure diversity in my portfolio.   The first corporation is________________________.   This company pays ______ in dividends per share/per year. Every quarter, the shareholder gets ________ per quarter (divide the dividend into four to get the quarterly dividend payout).   The P/E (Price/Earnings) is _______ which makes it on the low/high end of the average P/E in the industry.   The 52 week high/low price is ________, which means the stock peaked at _____ (price/date) and the low _____ (price/date).   The 3-5 year forecast by(full name of the stock analyst)_ indicate why the analyst are indicating the company profits are going up in the future.
