TF9 Meeting: Warning Light Indicator EVSTF-07-29e TF9 Meeting: Warning Light Indicator Tokyo Meeting February 29, 2016

OICA proposal Presented and discussed an OICA developed table describing possible alternatives to test the appropriate response of the warning indicators for the BMS functionality and thermal events. Table provided two format layouts, based on member submissions, with the idea of using a REESS emulator to input singles to the BMS externally from the vehicle. Additionally, OICA demonstrated a basic diagram configuration of a Distributed BMS and Centralized BMS supporting the table proposal. OICA expressed that in order to use an emulator one would have to be created specifically for every battery design and a generalized emulator could not exist.

China Proposal China strongly recommends TF9 incorporate a low energy indicator requirement due to critical safety concerns. Additional to a visual warning indicator, the requirement would include: Enough energy to get to a safe location Enough energy to maintain vehicle lighting Members of the team do not feel it is necessary to require a low energy indicator given that conventional vehicles today do not have such a requirement.

Next Steps OICA Proposal: China Proposal: Team members will thoroughly explore the alternatives provided by OICA and provide feedback at next TF meeting. China Proposal: The team has discussed this thoroughly and have not been able to reach an agreement. At this time, TF9 wishes to bring this subject to the GTR IWG group in order to help reach an agreement.
