Math Emporium Course restructure – Studied 4 levels of DE math courses – District-wide process – all inclusive Concurrently reviewed alternate ways to schedule DE courses Researched 38 colleges Pilots - Spring and Summer 2009 Scaled offerings – Fall 2009 Preliminary data – 500 students

Math Emporium Uses 3 restructured courses, with MML Diagnoses, creates mastery-based study, assesses in class Allows for just-in-time instruction: students meet with instructors & tutors 3 hours/week Gives students opportunity to finish more than one course Defines clear and rigorous expectations: mandatory attendance, homework, notebooks

Pilot Preliminary Descriptive Data Pilot: Spring 2009 – Summer 2010, n = % students stay in course 66% successfully complete (A, B, C) 4% more students stay to complete course 6% students start second course 2% finish two courses *In summer intensive courses, 15% finish 2 courses.
