Warcati Project ANNUAL WORK PLAN 2012

Background: Building on the WRACTI initiative and insights gained during its implementation in the Arab region. The project will apply a comprehensive approach combining compilation and dissemination of information, capacity building of key stakeholders and the raising of awareness of women’s rights among them and the general public. The project will contribute to Kuwait’s effort to empower women to attain their rights and to enable them to effectively contribute to the country’s political, economic, and social development. The integration of the project into this regional framework will increase project impact through cross-fertilization. WARCAT KUWAIT 7/22/2019

Project Objectives: The key objective of the project is to enhance the legal knowledge of Kuwaiti women and to assist them in understanding and claiming their rights and entitlements. It will focus on the challenges identified in the Arab Human Development Reports of 2005 and 2009 which highlights the need of addressing the shortfalls of women’s legal empowerment. Project Specific Objectives: Raising awareness of Kuwaiti women and the public at large on women's legal rights, duties and entitlements. Build local capacities of the support mechanisms and stakeholders to ensure women’s empowerment in Kuwait WARCAT KUWAIT 7/22/2019

Implementing Partner; WCCS Long history of activism and tireless work on advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality in Kuwait (1963) Drawing on their successful experiences, to name some ;campaign for the political rights of the Kuwaiti women and their project on the Family Law with UNIFEM(UNWOME) and Freedom House. What’s Next; Project Sustainability: Strategies for project sustainability include: Building capacities of a pool of local staff, volunteers , practitioners and partners(learning by doing) to ensure long term commitment and lasting impact Invest efforts in the first year of the project life time to document success stories and best practices that could be replicated in the subsequent women’s empowerment projects and interventions Conduct a participatory planning process and resource mobilization strategy that will be ready for promotion by end of the third quarter.
