Age of Invention Chapter 19 Section 2

Communication Samuel Morse invented The Telegraph-People could send messages instantly. Cyrus Field- telegraph wire from U.S. to Europe. People could communicate across the Atlantic Ocean.

Communication Alexander Graham Bell invented The telephone-People could speak across great distances. In the beginning mainly used in businesses. Eventually people would have telephones in their homes.

Transportation Henry Ford invented The automobile The automobile allowed people to travel great distances and changed where and how people lived. Ford introduced the assembly line, it led other businesses to follow and made manufacturing easier. It also led to lower prices for consumers.

Mail Order Catalogs Sears Roebuck People in rural areas were able to purchase items, from sinks to shoes, through the mail. This made shopping easy for people who did not have access to big stores.
